| Biography: |
 |
Hal received his B.A. from Penn State University in 1971 and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1974. At Villanova, Hal was an Associate Editor of the Law Review Journal and graduated Order of the Coif. He was an Assistant District Attorney from 1974-1982 under Emmett Fitzpatrick, Jr. and Edward G. Rendell, rising to the rank of Chief of the Special Investigations Divisions.
In 1982, Hal entered private practice and began representing people who have sustained profound, often life-altering, injuries. Hal has represented victims in complex cases arising out of exposure to harmful products, ingestion of deleterious drugs, and provision of substandard medical care. Hal has been able to gain compensation for those most in need, such as children whose circumstances of birth have left them with permanent disabilities and families of asbestos workers stricken with lung cancer or mesothelioma.
In 2004, Hal was named a Philadelphia Super Lawyer, meaning he was selected by his peers as being among the top 5% of practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania. Hal currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and has lectured frequently on a wide range of legal issues. Hal taught trial practice for many years as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Law at Widener University School of Law.
